Roulette Rules and Tips
Although roulette is far more popular in Europe than it
is in the US, it is a game that should always be found in any casino.
The game consists of a spinning roulette wheel, with numbered grooves, a
small ball and a layout where bets are placed. The layout and
wheel are numbered from 1 to 36 with either a 0 (European roulette) or a
0 and 00 (American roulette). You place your bets by putting chips
onto the layout on the numbers you think will win, then the wheel is
spun and the winning number is decided. However you don't have to
guess the exact number, there are many different ways to bet:
Odd or Even: Quite simply do you think the winning
number will be odd or even. If you win you get your stake and the
same amount again back.
Red or Black: The numbers on the wheel and layout
are also coloured in red or black (except 0 and 00 which are green).
Guess which colour the ball will drop into and get even money on your
stake if you win.
High or Low: Bet on either low (numbers 1-18) or
high (numbers 19-36). Another even money bet.
Columns: At the bottom of each column on the layout
you will find a square where you can bet on any number in that column to
win. If you guess correctly you will be paid at 2 to 1, for
example a winning £20 bet will return £60.
Dozens: There are three sets of dozens you can bet
on, 1-12, 13-24 and 25-36. This pays 2 to 1, the same as the
columns bet.
Please note: In all
the above bets, if 0 or 00 is the winning number then the bet is lost.
This is how the casino gains it's edge. Apart from these 'outside'
bets as described as above there are also 'inside bets' which are best
on specific number/s:
Single number: Placing a chip square in the middle
of a box will mean placing a bet on that number to be the winning one.
If your number does come in then you will be paid at odds of 35 to 1.
A £10 bet will return £360 (£10 stake and £350 winnings)
Two numbers: Put a chip on the line between two
numbers and you will win if either one comes in. Winning bets are
paid at 17 to 1.
Street bet: This covers three numbers in a row
across the table, and pays out at 11 to 1. To make this bet, put
your chip on the line at the end of the row you want to bet on.
Square bet: This is a bet on a group (or square) of
four numbers. Put your chip at the point where all four numbers
meet, and if you win you will be paid out at 8 to 1.
Tips:
1/ Always try and play on a table with only a
single 0 and not a 0 and 00. Playing on a European table has a
house edge of half that of an American table.

can download their casino software which includes single 0 roulette.
2/ Before playing for real, why not open a guest
account and play for 'fun money'. This way you can practice making
all the different types of bets, and see how the game plays, without
risking any of your own money. Then when you are ready you can go
on to play for real money.
