The world of internet casinos can be
daunting if you are not familiar with it. You've probably heard all the
scare stories about people's credit cards being charged with thousands
of pounds after they made a deposit at a casino, or games that are
rigged so you never win. In fact the vast majority of internet casinos
(and ALL the ones on this site) are well-run and long established
business's, who know it makes better sense to offer fair games, good
support and timely payouts. They are also all licensed by the government
of the country they are based in.
How to start playing: First of all
you need to decide which casino you would like to play at. Most of the
casinos we have on this site use microgaming software. This is the
largest and most respected gambling software on the internet and you'll
find that most of the casinos have the full array of games, the most
popular being blackjack, roulette, baccarat, craps, video poker, slots
and progressive slots. There are other games as well but not all casinos
will have them. Take a look at our reviews section where we list all the
casinos and which games they have.
Secondly, decide whether you are going to
play the download version or the flash version (not all casinos offer
this). If you are going to be mainly playing from one computer I
recommend playing the download version. The reason for this is that the
flash version will take a few minutes everytime you go to play or change
the game you want to play within a session. The download version,
although it will take some time to download to begin with, will be on
your computer then for good and will load up very quickly every time you
wish to play. NB: If you are using a dial-up connection to the internet,
downloading a casino will take between 40 minutes to an hour, so make
sure you have enough time to complete the download. If you are using
broadband it should only take a few minutes.
After you have downloaded and installed
the casino (or gone to the flash section of the site) you will need to
register. This will be your details ie. name, address, telephone number
etc. You will also often have the option of playing for real or for fun.
If you're not ready to risk your money, make a 'for fun' account. This
will give you the opportunity to have a look around the casino and play
the games using the casinos fun money before you put your own money on
the line. When you are ready to play for real it's time to make a
deposit. There are different ways to do this. Have a look at our
Banking
Methods section where we explain them all.
Security: All of the casinos we
have listed on this site use 128 bit data encryption. This means that
all your data and transactions are kept as safe and secure as is
possible. A lot also use E-Cash merchants to process your transaction.
These have in-house fraud departments who help ensure the safety and
privacy of your details, to the benefit of both the casino and the
player. An example of this is that sometimes the casino may ask that you
send in either faxed or scanned copies of certain documentation. This
often happens when a large cash-out occurs, after all they want to make
sure YOU get your money and not someone else.
Fairness of the games: This is
something that a lot of people worry about when they think of internet
casinos, so let me put your mind at rest. The way online casinos work,
whether you're playing a table game, or video poker or slots, is by
using a random number generator (RNG). These ensure that there is
complete randomness in whichever game you decide to play. Most casino
software companies have their RNG's checked by outside organisations.
For example, microgaming casinos are reviewed every month by
Pricewaterhousecoopers.
